Language Arts Syllabus - Week of 1/12

Announcements:
  • Last reminder for my 1st Core Extension rotation: Your persuasive essay revisions (along with all original work and rubric) are due Monday, 1/12.
  • My current Core Extension: Persuasive essay outlines and rough drafts that are not finished in class on Monday are due by Tuesday, 1/13.
  • Retake for Vocabulary Week 8 quiz is Tuesday immediately after school.
  • Study session is this Friday @ 8:20 A.M.
  • Honor Roll Breakfast is 1/15 @ 8:00 A.M

Monday:
  • Periods 3, 4, & 8: Finish oral presentations
  • Vocabulary Lesson #9 (Words from upcoming literature) Homework is due Wednesday: Write a clear definition and use each word in an original sentence.

Tuesday:
  • Introduce science fiction / fantasy unit. Students will be asked to find and check in a self-selected novel from one of these genres by Tuesday, January 20th. The book report format will be given at that time.
  • In class: Introduce, assign roles, and begin reading Rod Serling’s teleplay “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street.”

Wednesday:
  • Finish play and discussion.
  • Collect vocabulary homework and review words, if time.

Thursday:
  • Writing Workshop (COW’s today only, if needed and qualified)

Friday:
  • Vocabulary Quiz #9
  • Writing Workshop
