7-3 LA Overview
Announcement:
Writing Celebration contest entry/extra credit is due by January 12.
Monday: Distribute student packet to accompany our new novel Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes. You are not required to do anything in the packet yet. The weekly overview will detail the upcoming due dates in your packet and required reading/quizzes. In-class: Complete and discuss page 3 in packet.
Tuesday: Writing Workshop. Distribute and assign copies of novel.
Due Friday: Quiz on pages 1 – 48.
Expectations for our new novel study:
- Please bring the novel and packet to class every day.
- Keep up with the reading; you will be given a quiz on the assigned reading.
- Be an active participant in class discussion.
Wednesday: In-class: Work on pages 5 and 6 in packet.
Thursday: Writing Workshop
Friday: Quiz and discussion on FFA (pages 1 – 48)

Tuesday-Quiz on pages 49-82 and Friday – Quiz on pages 82 – 126.

Thursday - Friday: Begin The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. Distribute packet of response journal prompts. This novel will be read and discussed in class. Response journals will be assigned as we complete various chapters. Bring your novel packet to class every day. If you are absent, you are responsible for finding out about missed reading and make arrangements with me (coming in at lunch or checking out a book).
Homework for Monday:
Response Journals (chapters TBA in class on Friday). This will also be updated on my blog on 1/14.
