SYLLABUS - WEEK OF 12/10

Announcements:

• SANTOS ADVISORY: Thank you to the parents and students who donated money to our Adopt-A-Family program. For those who signed up to purchase gifts, they are due by this Thursday (wrapped and labeled with our family number).
• Box Tops for Education continues (community service and advisory contest).
• Borrowed classroom novels are due by the end of the week except for recently checked out books.
• Report cards went home with students last Friday. Please return the report card envelope with parent signature by Tuesday.
• Study session is this Friday @ 8:15 A.M. This is an open session for students to come in for extra help on their persuasive essays if needed. See me if you need a pass.
• Bring reading material for Wednesday’s SSR.

Monday:

• Journal
• Oral Presentations on self-selected novels begin today.
• Extended 6^th and 7^th period: Finish alphabet stories from last week (in class creative writing exercise). Keep story in classroom folder.

Tuesday:

• LA Trivia
• Oral Presentations continue.
• Extended 1^st and 2^nd period: Finish alphabet stories from last week (in class creative writing exercise). Keep story in classroom folder.

Wednesday:

• Journal
• Finish oral presentations.

Thursday:

• LA Trivia
• I will return rough drafts and outlines of persuasive essays with peer and teacher feedback. Students will begin revision in class. Final drafts are due by Tuesday, 12/18. You must resubmit rough draft and outline with final copy. Adhere to the requirements for the final copy on your handout. This is also posted on my blog.
• Extended 6^th and 7^th period: Share alphabet stories.

Friday:

• Review format for internal citations and Works Cited/Consulted Page.

• Capitalization pre-test.
• Extended 1^st and 2^nd period: Share alphabet stories.
