SYLLABUS - DECEMBER 3 - 7, 2007

Announcements:

  • Santos Advisory only: Adopt-A-Family commitment forms are due by Tuesday, 12/4. Please share the handout with your parents. Monetary donations are due by Thursday, 12/6. Wrapped labeled gifts are due by 12/13. Please return your commitment form so we can avoid duplication.
  • Pennies for Pearl Harbor ends this week.
  • During SSR on Wednesday, you will meet with your field trip teacher chaperone.
  • Field Trip: Thursday, 12/6. No advisory. Meet with your field trip chaperone @ 9:00 A.M.
  • On Friday, 12/7 during 7th period we will attend a CAST teaser performance of an Agatha Christie play.
  • Friday, 12/7: Report Cards go home with students.
  • Vocabulary Quiz #6 retake is this Friday @ 8:15 A.M.
  • Book report presentations begin Monday, 12/10. Please see book report options and requirements, which are also posted on my blog.

Monday:

  • Journal
  • Return last Friday’s vocabulary quiz #6. Make up for absent students is Tuesday at lunch.
  • Period 1 and 2 only: Lesson on writing a conclusion in persuasive essay.
  • Period 6 and 7 only: Begin in-class exercises on capitalization rules. Finish in class tomorrow.
  • Period 6 and 7 only: Student-Teacher conferences re: 1st trimester grades.

Tuesday:

  • LA Trivia
  • Period 1 and 2 only: Begin in-class exercises on capitalization rules. Finish in class tomorrow.
  • Period 1 and 2 only: Student-Teacher conferences re: 1st trimester grades.
  • Period 6 and 7: Finish in-class exercises from Monday. Also, be prepared to work on one of the following: Work on book report presentation or persuasive essay.

Wednesday:

  • Journal
  • Outline and Rough draft of persuasive essay is due today. These will be returned with teacher feedback next week.
  • Correct in-class capitalization exercises and review skills.

Friday:

  • Review requirements for book report presentations. Share tips and strategies for a successful presentation.
  • In-Class creative writing exercise: Alphabet Story
