- Icebreaker –Introductions
- Review LA Curriculum Overview handout. Please bring home and share with parents/guardians.
- Extended 6th and 7th period: Introduction to Writing Workshop
Tuesday:
- Introduction to science fiction/fantasy unit.
- Homework: Select a novel for the first book report that fits the science fiction or fantasy genre. Do not select a novel that has been made into a movie. The book report format will be reviewed today. Check in the novel for approval by Tuesday, November 24th.
- Extended 6th and 7th period: Begin 1st Writing Workshop entry.
Wednesday:
- Distribute and assign two language arts textbooks (Language of Literature and Language Network). Keep both books at home until the end of the school year.
- In-class: Begin reading and discussing teleplay “The Monsters are due on Maple Street.”
Thursday:
- Finish reading and discussing play.
- Homework for Friday: Read “Lose Now, Pay Later” by Carol Farley on pages 566-572 in blue literature book. Write responses to the questions on pg. 573 (#1-4 top left-hand corner). Due tomorrow. Responses should be in complete sentences and 2-5 sentences each.
- Extended 1st and 2nd period: Introduction to Writing Workshop
Friday:
- Collect Thursday’s homework. Discuss story.
- Extended 1st and 2nd period: Begin 1st Writing Workshop entry.
