Announcements:
• Extra credit (Multicultural Essay/Poetry Contest) is due by March 22nd.
• I-Search papers will be returned by the end of the week. Revisions are due April 5th. You must resubmit the original graded paper and the rubric in order for revision to be considered.
• Book report presentations begin April 11th.


Monday: Discuss focus of tomorrow’s poetry test. Review terms. WW

Tuesday: Poetry Unit test. SSR

Wednesday: In-class: “Casey at the Bat” exercise.

Thursday: Finish and share “Casey at the Bat” sequels.

Announcement: Multicultural Essay/Poetry Contest (extra credit) – due March 22nd.

Monday: Vocabulary Lesson/homework (due Tuesday). WW

Tuesday: Review vocabulary. Assign homework: Read “Emancipation” by Russell Freedman (600-604) and “Brown vs. Board of Education” by Walter Dean Meyers (605-612) and write responses to questions on page 613. Due tomorrow.

Wednesday: Discuss tone of persuasive pieces (homework). Homework: Due 4/15: Over spring break, pay attention to local and national news. Also, consider problems (locally or globally) that need solving or common views that you think need changing. Come in with these ideas by 4/15, so we can begin your next writing assignment.

Thursday: Vocabulary Quiz. WW.
