LA SYLLABUS - WEEK OF APRIL 26, 2010

Announcements:
  • Health ended on Thursday, 4/22. Please return to your original core classes. On Wednesday, report to your original core extension teacher.
  • No study session this week
  • Optional for Tuesday, April 27th: Bring to class a typed copy of your I-Search paper and Works Cited page for peer review.
  • Due Thursday, April 29th: Final draft of I-Search paper with works cited page. Please use class notes/handouts and Research Basics and adhere to all the details listed on rubric (distributed on 4/22). You must resubmit all note cards, source cards, outline, and the rubric along with the above. See me if any questions.

Monday:
  • 1st and 2nd period only:
  • Read and discuss “There’s No Word for Goodbye” by Mary TallMountain and “Graduation Morning” by Pat Mora.

Extended 6th and 7th only:
  • Organize writing workshop notebooks. Do not remove from classroom after Tuesday, 4/27. I will be checking and grading your notebooks. Specifically, I will be checking organization, effort, and quantity of at least 15 entries between February 8- April 22nd.
  • Writing Workshop

Tuesday:
  • Peer review session for students who did optional typed first draft. Those students who did not will do extra writing workshop or should bring a novel to read.
  • Extended 6th and 7th period: Writing Workshop

Wednesday:
All classes: Read and discuss “Casey at the Bat” by Ernest Lawrence Thayer.

Thursday:
All classes: Collect I-Search papers due today.

6th and 7th period only:
