LA SYLLABUS - WEEK OF MARCH 8

Announcements:

• Report cards go home March 12.
• Study session this Friday @ 8:20 A.M. to review for vocabulary quiz. Pick up pass from back table.
• Don’t forget to check in your novel for approval by Tuesday, March 9^th (genre is student choice). The book report format was distributed last week and is also posted online. Book report is due by Wednesday, April 9^th.
• Don’t forget to follow your new class schedule that includes health as part of our core time.
• LA Writing Workshop will now be scheduled on Tuesday and Friday for all class periods.

Monday:

• New seating chart
• Vocabulary Lesson (words from upcoming non-fiction pieces). Homework: write a clear definition and to use each word in an original sentence (due Wednesday).

Tuesday:

• Announce optional extra credit (10 points possible) – Ethnic Festival essay is due by March 18^th.
• Mini-lesson: prepositional phrases
• Writing Workshop

Wednesday:

• Prepositional phrases pre-test
• Collect vocabulary homework.
• Introduce new 7^th grade textbooks that we are piloting. Mini-lesson: “Introducing the Big Question” and types of non-fiction.

Thursday:

• Return vocabulary homework and review for tomorrow’s quiz.
• Read and discuss “What Makes a Rembrandt a Rembrandt” by Richard Muhlberger.

Friday:

• Vocabulary Quiz # 4
• Writing Workshop
