LA SYLLABUS - MARCH 1, 2010

Announcements:

• Monday – No School
• 2nd trimester ended last Friday. Report cards go home March 12th.
• Tuesday – ISAT’s begin. Here are helpful reminders:
• Report to your Core Extension teacher every morning. Be on time, and come prepared with the following:

Several #2 pencils
Calculator
Book to read (in case you finish early)
Optional: Clear bottled water (no energy drinks) and healthy snack
There will be no LA homework this week so get a good night’s rest.

Schedule after testing:

• Tuesday: Lunch, 6th, 7th, 1st, 2nd, 3rd periods
• Wednesday: Lunch, 1st, 6th 7th, 8th, 9th periods
• Thursday: Lunch, 6th, 7th, 1st, 2nd, 3rd periods
• Friday: Field Trip to Lake Theater to see Alice in Wonderland

Tuesday (all core):

• Distribute book report format. See handout for details. Due dates: Check in novel by Tuesday, March 9th. Book report is due by Wednesday, April 7th.
• Do you have a novel recommendation? Fill out book recommendation form and post on bulletin board. (2 points extra credit for thorough forms).
• Writing Workshop

Wednesday: (1st, 6th, 7th):

• Return last week’s extended response (practice). Using ISBE rubric (4 point scale), students will evaluate peers’ responses.
• Trivia Game

Thursday (all core):

• Return grades for writing workshop final pieces.
• Health with Ms. Orthwein begins next week. Today students will get their schedules for core classes to include health.
