LA SYLLABUS - WEEK OF MAY 11

Announcements:

• Study session this Friday @ 8:15 (review for subject-verb agreement) grammar test.
• Grammar pages to study for Friday’s test: 208-220.
• I will be collecting textbooks next Monday. Make sure you can locate your at-home copies of Language of Literature and Language Network.
• Writing Workshop notebooks were graded last week. You can now remove your notebooks to complete the final writing workshop writing assignment.
• Congratulations to Molly N., Jack M., Erin S., and Charlie W., who won the top 4 scores in the first round of Word Power Challenge. They will go on to compete against top 7th graders from other teams for Round 2. GOOD LUCK!

Monday:

• Distribute details of final writing workshop assignment. Due by Friday, May 22nd. The last day to flag your notebook for teacher-edit is Wednesday, May 13th. Remember, an entry must be self-edited and peer-edited before it is flagged.

Tuesday:

• In-class: do review exercise from grammar book. This will be collected today and corrected on Thursday.
• If finished, students may read, work on last response journal, or work on WW.

Wednesday:

• Literature Circle #4: Last response journal due today.

Thursday:

• Correct grammar exercise from Tuesday. Review for tomorrow’s quiz.
• Explain details of final group presentation regarding literature circle novels.

Friday:

• Grammar Test
• Work with groups on literature circle presentation.
