LA SYLLABUS - WEEK OF FEBRUARY 9, 2009

Announcements:

• Conference Night-Thursday, February 12, 2009
• Noon Dismissal for students on 2/12 and 2/13. Here is your modified schedule for both days:
• Thursday: Attend class periods 1, 2, 3, 4
• Friday: Attend class period 6, 8, 7, 9
• Due to conference schedule, there will be no LA study session.
• A copy of the book report format is posted on my blog. Students had a month to read a novel and complete the book report. Be sure it is in correct format and good quality work.
• Sci-fi expository essays will go home with students and parents in their portfolios this week. You have 2 options: 1) File in yellow writing folder next week or 2) Revise to improve writing and grade by Thursday, 2/19. You must submit the original rubric and essay.

Monday:

• Return expository essays (graded) for student reflection/sharing. I will recollect to stuff into your portfolio.
• Vocabulary Lesson #10 (standardized test prep word parts). Homework will be started in class and is due Tuesday. Write a definition for each word.
