EXPOSITORY ESSAY - SCIENCE FICTION

Science Fiction Essay
Choose one of the following expository writing options.

  • Avoid use of 1st person point of view.
  • Include a clear thesis statement

Option A
Imagine what the world would be like if time travel were possible. How could time travel change history? Choose one famous American in history. Pretend he/she has the opportunity to travel back or into the future. In what time do you think he/she would travel and why? What changes might this person make once they complete their travel?

Option B
If all of your schooling could be done at home with a computer, would you favor this type of education? What are the advantages or disadvantages for you as a student of strictly online education?

Option C
We have just read Ray Bradbury’s “There Will Come Soft Rains.” Imagine if you lived in such a house. Write an essay explaining what would be the effects (positive and/or negative) of living in a house that was programmed to do many routine tasks.

Option D.
Great advances in communications have brought the nations of our world closer together in the last few decades. These advances have brought together positive effects as well as some challenges. Consider how advances in communication could help or hinder world peace.
