LANGUAGE ARTS SYLLABUS - WEEK OF 10/20

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

• Due to portfolio conferences and noon dismissals later this week, the schedule has been modified. Please note which classes you will attend.

Thursday: Periods 1, 2, 3, 4 (no advisory)

Friday: Periods 6, 7, 8, 9

• Portfolio Conferences – Thursday, October 23rd. Please make sure you arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled time. Students should attend conferences also.
• No formal study session this week. However, I am available to help students at lunch who have questions about the novel. Please let me know ahead of time that you need help, and I will give you a pass. Bring your novel and any questions you have.
• An extra copy of the novel assignment (due dates and vocabulary) is posted on my blog.
• Advisory Service Projects:

Used Coat Drive- Bring in your used and clean coats between 10/14 and 11/14.

Shoebox Project: Each advisory is asked to fill 2 shoeboxes of the following needed items for the servicemen and women in Iraq and Afghanistan:playing cards, gum, hard candy, dice, cotton balls, q tips, small kleenex, microwave popcorn, hot chocolate packages, Rubik’s cube, pens / pencils

Monday: Writing Workshop

Tuesday:

• Quiz on pgs. 114-156 of Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech. Discussion will follow.

Wednesday

• Mini-lesson: Chapter poems (put idea into Section II of writing notebook)
• Writing Workshop

Thursday (3rd and 4th period) AND Friday (7th, 8th, and 9th period)

• Quiz on pages 157-204 of Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech. Discussion will follow.
