Announcements:
- Book report due date has been changed to Thursday, 10/2. Students may submit book reports on Monday or Tuesday. Remember an extra copy of the book report format is posted on my blog. Also, students who are completing Option A or B should use the proper business letter format distributed last Friday.
- No new vocabulary lesson this week.
- No study session this week. However, students who wish to retake vocabulary quiz #4 may ask for a pass to attend retake Friday @ 8:30 A.M. You are required to have completed the homework due last week. The highest score one can earn on this week’s retake is 17/19 or B+.
- Octoberfest is this Friday at 5 P.M. Come with your parents and enjoy an all-school gathering.
- Please return by Friday classroom novels that were borrowed for the book report. Remember you need to hand me the book, and I will remove your name from the “book checkout” list.
- Picture retake day is 10/30. See office if you need a picture order form.
Monday:
- Return vocabulary quiz #4
- In-class lesson: Verb Power! (replacing linking verbs with strong action verbs)
Tuesday:
- Return graded creative writing assignments that were due last week (9/24). Students may revise their writing to raise their grades. Revisions are due by Monday, 10/6. You MUST resubmit original piece of writing and rubric along with your new draft. For students who are not revising, keep your rubric and assignment in yellow folder.
- Writing Workshop

Thursday:
- Book report is due today. Share and collect.
- Periods 3, 7, 8: Correct run-ons and fragments exercise from yesterday.
- Period 4 only: Writing Workshop: To make up missed entry last week due to picture day.
Friday:
- Period 4: Correct Wednesday’s in-class work on fragments and run-ons
