Announcements:
- Vocabulary Quiz #2 retake opportunity is scheduled for Tuesday, 9/16 during lunch. Students who scored a C or lower can earn up to a B on a retake. It is required that you first have completed the vocabulary assignment. See me for a pass if you need to pick up your hot lunch first.
- Continue reading your self-selected realistic fiction novel. Students were given a copy of the book report format. This is also posted on my blog. Book Report due date: by Wednesday, 10/1.
- Study session is scheduled for this Friday @ 8:20 A.M. Focus: Extra review for vocabulary quiz #3. See me for a pass.
- Picture Day order forms went home with students last Thursday. If you are interested in ordering pictures, students should bring in completed forms with money on Picture Day (9/23).

- Return graded vocabulary quiz #2.
- Discuss last week’s reading assignment “What I Want to be When I Grow Up” by Martha Brooks.
- Vocabulary List #3 (words based on this week’s literature). Homework: Write a definition and original sentence using each of the following words. Due Wednesday.

- Return vocabulary homework.
- In class: Read and discuss “A Crush” by Cynthia Rylant.
- Distribute writing assignment options based on recent literature. Select one of the options and complete the assignment by Wednesday, 9/24. See handout for details.
