LANGUAGE ARTS SYLLABUS - WEEK OF MARCH 3, 2008

Announcements:

• 2^nd trimester ends 3/14.
• 6^th and 7^th period only: Final novel assignments are due Tuesday, 3/11. Follow the directions on the assignment sheet once you select your option. This assignment has also been posted on my blog.
• ISATs begin 3/4/08-3/07/08. Be on time. Bring several #2 pencils, calculator, and a book to read in case you finish a session early. Optional: Bring a healthy snack and only clear and bottled water is allowed. Due to ISATs, the scheduled has been modified. Please pay attention to the several signs posted in our hallway. Below is a copy of the schedule we will be following.Every day, report to your assigned teacher for testing from 9:00 – 11:30. Lunch will follow @ 11:30 P.M. After lunch, you will attend only the classes as shown below:

• Tuesday: 1, 2, 6, 7, 3
• Wednesday: 6, 7, 1, 8, 9
• Thursday: 2, 6, Team Movie, 3
• Friday: 7, 1, 2, 8, 9

Tuesday:

• All classes: LA Trivia
• 1^st and 2^nd period only: Begin reading and discussing “Flowers for Algernon” by Daniel Keyes (in class)
• 6^th and 7^th period only: Use class time to work on final novel assignment or see me for help.

Wednesday:

• Journal
• 1^st period only: Return last week’s extended response results, and continue reading and discussing “Flowers for Algernon.”
• 6^th and 7^th period only: In-class essay

Thursday:

• 2^nd period only: Return last week’s extended response results, and continue reading and discussing “Flowers for Algernon.”
• 6^th period only: Word Power Bingo (extra credit opportunity)

Friday:

• 1^st and 2^nd period only: Continue “Flowers for Algernon.” Homework: Finish story and answer discussion questions at the end of the packet. Due Monday, 3/10
• 7^th period only: Word Power Bingo (extra credit opportunity)
