SYLLABUS - WEEK OF FEBRUARY 4, 2008

Announcements:

• CONFERENCE NIGHT – FEBRUARY 7 ; Noon dismissals on Thursday and Friday
• Schedule for Thursday: Periods 1, 2, 8, 6 ; Schedule for Friday: 3, 7, READ-IN , 9
• Pajama Day and Read-in on Friday
• No study session this week. 6^th and 7^th period students who missed last Friday’s quiz or students who wish to retake quiz should come to C307 during lunch on Tuesday.

1^st and 2^nd period only:

Monday:

• Journal
• Review results, criteria, and student sample of extended response.
• Review pg. 3 vocabulary words and continue novel work.

Tuesday:

• LA Trivia
• Quiz on The Giver pages 121-end of novel. Discuss conclusion of novel and collect vocabulary packets (last 2 pages are due today).

Wednesday:

• Journal
• Distribute final novel assignment. Select the option that will challenge you and suit your talents. Final project is due Friday, 2/15.
• Return vocabulary packets. Vocabulary quiz will be Tuesday, 2/12.
• Begin brainstorming, drafting, etc…

Thursday:

• ISAT practice test

6^th and 7^th period only:

Monday:

• Journal
• Return last Friday’s vocabulary quiz.
• Correct last week’s ISAT practice test, and review results, criteria, and student sample of extended response.
• Discuss Ray Bradbury’s “All Summer in a Day.”

Tuesday:

• LA Trivia
• Begin reading “Desertion” by Clifford D. Simak. Homework: Answer questions at the end of the packet. Due Wednesday.

Wednesday:

• Journal
• Discuss responses based on “Desertion.”
• In class: Read and discuss “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury.

Thursday (6^th period) and Friday (7^th period):

• Finish discussion.
• ISAT practice test
