6TH AND 7TH PERIOD - LANGUAGE ARTS SYLLABUS - WEEK OF 2/18

Announcements:

• Black History Month Assembly on Wednesday, 2/20 after lunch. Note: adjusted schedule will be posted on locker bays.
• Online grades will be updated on Tuesday afternoon
• Reminder: Return your persuasive essays and rubrics from your student conference portfolios and place them in your yellow folder.
• Novels and packets with assignments and due dates were distributed last Friday. Please make a note of the required reading and due dates in your student planner. Bring your novel and packet every day. The due dates and requirements are also posted on my blog.

Monday: No School (Presidents’ Day)

Tuesday:

• LA Trivia
• Pre-reading activity
• Work on novel assignment.

Wednesday:

• 1^st novel assignment is due today. Quiz on pages 1 – 58 of The Giver by Lois Lowry. Page 1 of vocabulary packet is due today.
• Discuss 1^st section of the novel.

Thursday:

• ISAT practice test
• If time, continue working on novel unit.

Friday:

• 2^nd novel assignment is due today. Quiz on pages 59 – 88. Page 2 of vocabulary packet is due today.
• Discuss this section of the novel.
