1st and 2nd period LANGUAGE ARTS SYLLABUS- WEEK OF 2/25

Announcements:

  • SSR – Wednesday. Bring reading material
  • Retake for vocabulary quiz #8 – Thursday after school. Only students who completed the required vocabulary homework may attend. Highest retake score possible: B (17/20)
  • Study session – Friday @ 8:15. Focus: review for vocabulary quiz #9

Monday:

  • Journal
  • Return vocabulary quiz #8.
  • Discuss “The Smallest Dragonboy.”
  • Vocabulary List #9 (Homework: Write each word 5 times each. Write a definition.) Due Thursday.

Tuesday:

  • Correct last week’s ISAT practice test
  • Begin literature homework: Read “Lose Now, Pay Later” by Carol Farley (pages 567-572) and “All Summer in a Day” by Bradbury (pages 489-494). Write clear, detailed responses to questions on page 573 (#2, 3, 4 only) and page 495 (#4, 5, 6 only). Due Wednesday.

Wednesday:

  • Journal
  • Discuss responses to assigned short stories.
  • Review results from last week’s extended response.

Thursday:

  • Vocabulary homework is due today.
  • Extended Response exercise (only for students who did not score 3’s and 4’s consistently on practice tests).
  • Begin reading “Desertion” by Clifford D. Simak. Answer questions at the end of the packet. This is homework if not finished in class.

Friday:

  • Vocabulary Quiz #9
  • Discuss responses to “Desertion.”
  • Discuss needs and items allowed for ISAT tests next week.
  • Journal share, if time.
