SYLLABUS - WEEK OF JANUARY 14, 2008

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • pROGRESS REPORTS FOR 2ND TRIMESTER GO HOME WITH STUDENTS ON tHURSDAY, 1/17.
  • honor roll breakfast - tuesday @ 8:00 A.M.
  • iNSTITUTE DAY ON fRIDAY – NO SCHOOL
  • vOCABULARY WEEK 7 RETAKE IS BEING OFFERED AFTER SCHOOL THURSDAY. IN ORDER TO ATTEND RETAKE OPPORTUNITY, THE VOCABULARY HOMEWORK SHOULD HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED LAST WEEK.
  • OPTIONAL – PERSUASIVE ESSAY REVISIONS ARE DUE MONDAY, 1/14. STUDENTS MUST ALSO RESUBMIT ALL PREVIOUS DRAFTS COMPLETED DURING THIS WRITING PROCESS anD THE ORIGINAL RUBRIC.
  • OPTIONAL – LAST DAY TO SUBMIT ENTRIES FOR DISTRICT 97 WRITING CELEBRATION IS TUESDAY, 1/15. PLEASE ADHERE TO ALL THE REQUIREMENTS.
  • REMINDER – LEAVE JOURNAL FOLDERS IN CLASSROOM. THEY ARE CURRENTLY BEING EVALUATED.
  • WEDNESDAY – FOLLOW FRIDAY’S BELL SCHEDULE.

monday:

  • journal
  • return graded vocabulary quiz #7. students who were absent should make this up at lunch today.
  • introduce new unit (science fiction/fantasy). details to be discussed in class regardindg upcoming novels and short stories.
  • introduce teleplay by rod serling “The MOnsters are due on maple street.” assign roles and begin reading in class.

Tuesday:

  • la trivia
  • finish reading teleplay. assign questions based on reading. due tomorrow.

wednesday:

  • journal
  • 6th and 7th period only: pre-test on direct and indirect objects, transitive and intransitive verbs (based on last week’s lesson). students who score an “A” will be exempt from next week’s post-test.
  • discuss homework (responses based on reading).
  • assign roles for character trial (thursday).
  • extended 1st and 2nd period: watch video (twilight zone episode of rod serling script)

thursday:
