- Progress reports and conference information went home with students on 1/17. Please return with parent signature to teacher listed on your conference letter. Conference Night is 2/7.
- Good luck to Jack F. and Jenna S. on the District 97 Writing Celebration.
- SSR – Wednesday
- Box Top Advisory Contest is ongoing.
- Retake for Vocabulary Quiz #8 is Thursday at lunch. Only students who completed last week’s vocabulary homework are qualified to attend.
- Study session – Friday @ 8:15 . The focus will be on reviewing for Week 9 Vocabulary Quiz.

- Correct long passage responses from Anton Chekhov’s “The Bet.”
- Vocabulary List #9 (word’s from current sci-fi literature). Homework: Write each word 5 times and write a clear definition. Due Thursday.

- Begin this week’s literature assignment: Read “Lose Now, Pay Later” by Carol Farley (pages 567-572) and “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury (pages 489-494). Write clear, detailed responses on page 573 (#2, 3, 4) and page 495 (#4, 5, 6). Due Wednesday if not finished today in class.
Wednesday:
- Journal
- Discuss responses to 2 stories assigned yesterday.
- Analyze student sample of extended responses based on Aton Chekhov’s “The Bet.”
Thursday:
- LA Trivia
- Vocabulary homework is due today. Review for quiz
- ISAT Practice Test (long passage and extended response)
Friday:
- Vocabulary Quiz #9
- Correct yesterday’s long passage responses and review scores on extended responses.
