· We continue with our previous community service projects. On Tuesday my advisory will receive information about the Adopt-A-Family project. Please share with your parents and return commitment slips to me by Tuesday, 12/4. These slips are important so we can avoid any duplication of gifts.
· Field trip information: Last week students filled out preferences for field trip options being offered by 7-2 teachers. On Monday, 11/26 you will find out about your field trip group and receive your permission slip. Field trip money and permission slip should be returned to your assigned teacher chaperone by Friday, 11/30. Field trip is on Thursday, 12/6 for all 7-2 students.
· 1st day of new trimester is Monday, 11/26. Report cards go home on Friday, 12/7.
· LA study session has been cancelled for this week.
· Students should be in the process of reading their self-selected novels. Book report presentations begin on Monday, 12/10. See my blog for an extra copy of the book report requirements.
Monday:

· Vocabulary Lesson #6 (words often confused). Homework is due Wednesday: Write a definition, and use each word in an original sentence.

· Mini-lesson: Writing interesting introductions for persuasive essays and writing a clear, effective thesis statement. Exercise: Identify the thesis statements in sample introductions.
Extended 1st and 2nd period: Purge LA take home folders.
· Journal
- Mini-lesson: Organizing body paragraphs in persuasive essays.
· Vocabulary homework is due today. Review for quiz.
Thursday:
· LA Trivia
· Distribute persuasive essay assignment. Students will select from the student-generated list of possible topics. Outline and rough draft is due by next Wednesday. Follow the requirements on the handout given in class today.
Extended 6th and 7th period: Begin working on outline.
Friday:
· Mini-lesson: Transition words, writing a conclusion, and proper note-taking (for students whose topics will require research)
· Vocabulary Quiz #6
Extended 1st and 2nd period: Work on outlines, begin rough drafts, or read your novel.
