Announcements:

  • Personal Narrative final draft is due by Friday, 10/12. You must resubmit the rough draft and outline (returned last Wednesday with teacher feedback). Please adhere to all the requirements on assignment sheet, which can also be accessed on my blog (see above).
  • First trimester progress reports go home with students this Friday.
  • Portfolio conferences are next week (October 18th). Noon dismissal on October 18th and 19th. Portfolio conference signup sheets went home in curriculum night envelopes. If parents did not pick up the envelope on Curriculum Night, this went home with students on Friday, September 21st.
  • Pennies for Pear Harbor continues. This is a community service project as well as an advisory contest.
  • Study session - @ 8:15 A.M. Students who need more time to finish in-class creative writing assignment (based on recent literature) may come in to work on this. These 2 pieces will be graded next week along with their journal folders.
  • No new vocabulary this week. Focus is on grammar. See below.


Monday: No Class (Columbus Day)

Tuesday:

  • LA Trivia
  • Return book report grades. Distribute LA (yellow) folders. Fill out reading list for standards folder.
  • Finish in-class creative writing assignment (literature-based). Keep 2 pieces in journal folder.

Wednesday:

  • Journal
  • Introduce novels for historical fiction novel unit. More information to be announced next week.
  • Pre-test (run-ons and fragments)
  • Share creative writing.

Thursday:

  • LA Trivia
  • In-class activity (Walk Two Moons)

Friday:

  • Return grammar pre-test. Students who earned an A on pre-test will be exempt from the post-test next week. All students will have a grammar assignment to complete based on their pre-test score. Due Monday.
  • Personal Narratives due today. Share.
