MAJOR ASSIGNMENTS - Personal Narrative

PERSONAL NARRATIVE ASSIGNMENT

Directions:
Write a personal narrative that recreates the memory you have selected. Use your outline to help you stay organized. Use your observation chart, and include as many sensory details as you can. Don’t forget to include feelings and reactions whenever possible.

Other tips for rough draft:

  • Make paragraphs. (Use your class notes to help you.)
  • Skip a line between each paragraph.
  • Type or use ink (blue or black)
  • Think of an interesting title

Challenge:
Realistic dialogue can enhance your personal narrative. If you are ready for this challenge, include dialogue where appropriate .Use proper punctuation and apply the proper paragraphing rule we discussed in class.

Due Dates and Grading

  • Outline: (5 points) Due: Completed.
  • Observation Chart (5 points) Due: Completed.
  • Rough Draft (10 points) Due Already submitted and returned to students with feedback.
  • Final Draft (80 points) Due: by Friday, 10/12

Total: 100 points

Note: Final draft will be graded on the following: spelling and mechanics, organization, details/inclusion of feelings and reactions, and neatness (typed). The final should be 2-4 pages typed, double-spaced, and size 12 font (Times New Roman or similar). You must include the proper format for the heading. Don't forget a title. Also, resubmit the rough draft and outline.

Five points will be deducted for each day the final draft is late.
